ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Fort Knox Drive-Thru Self-Storage is now open on Williamson Road in Roanoke. The goal of the project was to introduce a new self-storage concept in the Roanoke Valley.

Fort Knox Drive-Thru Self-Storage sits on the old Happy’s Flea Market property.

The developer says he hoped to transform the under-utilized space into something that serves the community. He adds that he hopes to keep the spirit of the flea market alive by hosting outdoor community flea markets starting next month.

“It’s an excellent time of year to bring back the happy days of the flea market, so we hope to be open most weekends, weather permitting, but the idea is to focus as much attention on this end of Roanoke City as possible,” said Jim Cherney, the developer of Fort Knox Drive-Thru Self-Storage.

According to Jim Cherney, he hopes to use the space for other community engagement. Last summer, he held a number of drive-in movies on the property.
