Former longtime William Fleming Coach George ‘Kila’ Miller dies

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Longtime coach, teacher, school administrator, and Director of Athletics for Roanoke City Public Schools, George “Kila” Miller, has passed away, according to the district.

Miller led the William Fleming Colonels to multiple championships. Miller was the head football coach at Fleming during the mid 1990s, leading the team to the 1997 Division 5 state title game.

He was also named ‘District Coach of the Year’ in football and wrestling several times.

Miller was a Fleming graduate as well as a principal at the school and the Noel C. Taylor Academy.
