ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Thursday morning, Roanoke County crews spent hours battling a massive blaze at the Smith Gap Landfill.

The Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department says units from Masons Cove and Fort Lewis responded to the fire in the 8400 block of Bradshaw Road around 4 a.m. on Thursday, June 16.

According to officials, one of the landfill’s neighbors noticed the glow of the flames and called it in.

The department says it took four units and 10 personnel about 2.5 hours to extinguish the blaze.

There are no reports of injuries or property damage resulting from this incident.
