UPDATE: House damaged after Friday morning fire in northwest Roanoke

UPDATE 7:30 p.m.: Roanoke Fire-EMS reports total damages for this morning’s fire in northwest Roanoke are estimated at approximately $40,000.

According to fire officials, crews were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 1000 block of Fentress Street NW at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Friday, July 16. When units arrived on scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the home.

There are no reports of injuries resulting from this fire, the cause of which is still under investigation.


UPDATE 8:15 a.m.: Fire officials told WFXR News that nobody was hurt in Friday morning’s fire that damaged a home in northwest Roanoke.

Crews are currently clearing the scene of the house fire along Fentress Street near Melrose Avenue NW.


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Motorists in northwest Roanoke are asked to use caution Friday morning as first responders battle a working fire in the area.

Roanoke Fire-EMS says the fire is in the area of Fentress Street and Melrose Avenue NW.
