UPDATE: Early morning fire brought under control in southeast Roanoke

UPDATE 6:48 a.m.: Roanoke Fire-EMS says crews have brought Wednesday morning’s structure fire under control in southeast Roanoke.

According to the department, crews were dispatched to the fire shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 in the 400 block of 8th Street SE.

As of this writing, fire officials say the incident is under control and investigators are at the scene to determine the cause.


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — First responders were called out to southeast Roanoke overnight after a fire broke out at a building along 8th Street.

Members of Roanoke Fire-EMS — along with police officers — were seen by a member of the WFXR News crew in the 400 block of 8th Street SE between Dale Avenue and Stewart Avenue.

Firefighters were still actively battling the fire at the time.

There is no word on the cause of the fire or whether anyone is injured.
