UPDATE: Road reopened after tree falls onto northwest Roanoke house Monday

UPDATE 9:10 p.m.: Roanoke fire officials say Melrose Avenue NW has been reopened at Salem Turnpike after a tree fell onto power lines and a house Monday.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke Fire-EMS crews are on the scene of a tree that fell onto a house in northwest Roanoke Monday evening.

The department tweeted shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3 that the tree that fell in the 2100 block of Melrose Avenue NW also brought down a power line across the road.

Crews say that Melrose Avenue at the intersection of Salem Turnpike will be closed until further notice.

There have been no injuries reported in this incident.
