You can find your next hiking companion or snuggle-buddy at the Pop-Up Puppy Palooza event, taking place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the RCACP municipal shelter, which is located at 1510 Baldwin Avenue NE in Roanoke.
Both the local municipal intake shelter and the local animal rescue shelter have encountered a decrease in adoptions and hope their partnership will help showcase all of the loving dogs and puppies looking for families of their own.
With the holidays quickly approaching, the RCACP is trying to make room for anticipated stray animals picked up by Animal Control. Pet owners may become distracted during holiday get-togethers, allowing some pets the time to find a way to escape fences, yards, and houses.
The holidays can also be an ideal time to introduce a new companion to the household since more people should be home from work and school.
By adopting from Angels of Assisi, you can open up space for another animal to be transferred from the RCACP, reducing the number of animals in the municipal shelter at risk for euthanasia due to space issues.
Goody bags donated by Purina and Zoetis will be sent home with each adopted animal. There will also be cat/dog food available to those in the community who may be struggling to feed their pets.
“Both organizations are full of loving, adoptable dogs who can’t wait to meet you,” Angels of Assisi wrote on Facebook ahead of Saturday’s event. “You may just find your new best friend.”
