Woman sustains non-life-threatening injury after Thursday shooting in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person injured on Thursday.

According to the department, word came in around noon on Thursday, April 8 that a person had been shot in the 1700 block of Rorer Avenue SW.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury. Police say the victim was treated on scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS and asked not to be transported to the hospital.

The department says the investigation indicates the shooting did not occur where the victim was located. As of 3:55p.m. on Thursday, officers are still trying to find the original scene of the incident.

According to police, the victim and suspect knew each other and this appears to be an isolated incident.

No arrests have been made at this time.
