ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — On Wednesday, kids in the Roanoke Valley had the chance to have some fun and learn something in the process.
The Melrose Library hosted an event that was put on by Feeding Southwest Virginia.
Kids were given “10 farmer’s market bucks” to buy fresh fruits and vegetables in a way to educate kids about healthy foods and the value of a dollar.
Feeding Southwest Virginia also holds a “Feed and Read” program every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at most city libraries in Roanoke.
Kids are given a hot meal for the day, as well as food and snacks for the next day.
