UPDATE: Fallen tree removed after blocking section of Penmar Avenue SE in Roanoke

UPDATE 8:00 p.m. (7/12/21): After two days of blocking Penmar Avenue SE, a tree has finally been removed.

The tree fell Saturday morning but there is still no official word regarding what toppled the tree; however, neighbors are saying that they want all of the trees in Belmont Park to be checked in an effort to ensure that this does not happen again.


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – WFXR News is on the scene of a tree that fell on Penmar Avenue SE between Wilson and 10th Street in Roanoke.

Witnesses say the tree fell around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. One witness says the sound of the tree collapsing sounded like a truck hitting a building.

There were no injuries, nor was there any damage to any vehicles.

Appalachian Power is not reporting any outages in this area.

There is no word when the tree might be cleared.
