Emergency road work planned starting Sunday night will affect drivers near the I-81/Route 220 split in Botetourt County

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – Emergency road work could result in some lane closures and an exit closure near the I-81 and Route 220 split in Botetourt County.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the emergency road work is being conducted due to an earlier crash.

Starting Sunday, Nov. 14 and continuing into Thursday, Nov. 18, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, the left lane of I-81 South between mile markers 152.7 and 150.2 will be closed.

Southbound Route 220’s right lane may be closed as well along with a possible closure of the off-ramp at exit 150A.

Message boards will be alerting drivers of the potential for delays.
