ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke Police are investigating a shooting that took place Friday night in the northwestern part of the city, leaving two people injured.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, they were notified of a vehicle crash in the 3400 block of Norway Avenue NW shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17. When responding officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a home, as well as a man who appeared to have been shot inside of that vehicle.
The man was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with what police say appeared to be serious injuries.
Shortly after arriving at the Norway Avenue scene, authorities say they were notified that another man with a gunshot wound had arrived by personal transport to LewisGale Hospital.
Officials say they believe that both individuals were injured in the same incident.
The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting took place outside of a home in the 300 block of Juniper Street NW, according to the department.
Police believe the man in the vehicle tried to drive away from the scene after being shot, which resulted in the car crashing into the Norway Avenue home. Both men reportedly know each other.
No arrests have been made in connection with this incident, but the investigation is ongoing. Police say they are not searching for any additional individuals related to the incident.
