ROANOKE Va. (WFXR) — Beginning Friday, residents and visitors ages 21 and up in downtown Roanoke will be allowed to consume alcoholic beverages in the pre-selected designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA).

Downtown Roanoke, Inc. says the summer refreshment zone will will be in effect on weekends from Friday, June 10 through Sunday, July 31.

Participants may only drink from one of the participating restaurants’ labeled cups and must stay within the DORA between the hours 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Signs designating the approved areas will be posted, as well as a map.

According to organizers, participating restaurants include the following:

  • Benny Marconi’s
  • Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint
  • Caribbica Soul
  • Cabo Fish Taco
  • Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen and Brewery
  • Table 50
  • Alejandro’s Mexican Grill
  • Wok N Roll Kitchen

No outside alcohol is allowed in the DORA and participants may not bring a drink from another business into a different establishment. Cups from the event must be thrown away within the designated zone.
