ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — After a smashing success the first time around, Downtown Roanoke, Inc. decided to bring back its Gift Card Incentive Program — albeit with a few updates based on feedback — to help shoppers and diners double their money.
For example, Downtown Roanoke, Inc. increased the match amount and committed an investment of $45,000 to the program — compared to the $25,000 committed the first time.
If you purchase a $30 Downtown Roanoke Gift Card, you’ll receive $30 in bonus Downtown Roanoke Gift Certificates in $10 increments so you can use them at multiple businesses.
Organizers say the bonus Gift Certificates will be accepted at 58 downtown Roanoke businesses, but they must be used by June 13.
On the other hand, even though the Gift Cards do not have an expiration date, Downtown Roanoke, Inc. encourages purchasers to use their Gift Cards quickly in order to infuse as much money into downtown businesses as possible.
“This program is being organized and funded by DRI in support of Downtown Roanoke businesses which are still working to get on track after the past year of challenges,” Downtown Roanoke, Inc. said in a statement on Monday, April 26. “Our goal with this program is to incentivize people to shop and dine downtown and create some urgency with an expiration date on our bonus Gift Certificates.
However, here are the rules for this program:
- Limit of five Gift Cards/Certificates per person.
- Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for cash.
- Gift Certificate must be redeemed at one participating location.
- Change cannot be given and certificate must be surrendered at checkout.
Online sales for the Gift Card Incentive Program kick off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28. However, Downtown Roanoke, Inc. expects the program to sell out very quickly, saying funds only lasted 20 minutes last time.
