Going to the dogs: Downtown Roanoke gears up for Downtown Dog Show and Yappy Hour

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — On Friday evening, Wells Fargo Plaza will transform into a paradise for pooches in honor of Downtown Roanoke, Inc.’s first annual Downtown Dog Show and Yappy Hour!

From 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 16, downtown Roanoke is going to the dogs for this free event, which will feature the following:

  • The first-ever Downtown Dog Show, allowing community members to watch the dogs parade around a show ring and cheer for your favorites!
    • Registration is now sold out, but you can still come down and support your furry favorites as they compete to win great prizes!
    • Judging categories include Best in Mutt, Best in Show, Best Smile, Best Dressed, etc.
  • Other on-site activities include a pet photo booth, yard games, giveaways, and more
  • Adult beverages, but only for dog lovers who are 21 and over.
    • Beer tickets are $5 after an ID check.
  • Pet-friendly vendors:
    • Roanoke Valley SPCA, City of Roanoke Stormwater Division, Unleashed Dog Bakery & Boutique, Off Leash K9 Training, Taubman Museum of Art (Paint Your Pet), The Well Trained Dog and Pet Care, Hustle Haven, Enna Fowler Roseberry Photography, and Dad’s Hot Dogs.
  • Tons of cute dogs!
