UPDATE: Southbound crash cleared, northbound exit ramp reopened on I-81 in Botetourt County

UPDATE 1:10 p.m.: According to VDOT, Monday morning’s tractor-trailer crash at mile marker 168 on I-81 North has been cleared and the exit ramp reopened in Botetourt County.

UPDATE 9:33 a.m.: Crews have cleared the scene of the vehicle crash in Botetourt County that backed up traffic for miles Monday morning on I-81 South.

However, due to a tractor-trailer crash at mile marker 168 on I-81 North, VDOT says the northbound exit ramp is closed and traffic on Route 614 and Arcadia Road is being flagged through the scene.

UPDATE 8:20 a.m.: VDOT says all southbound travel lanes are back open at mile marker 167.5 on I-81 following Monday morning’s vehicle crash, but Botetourt County traffic is still backed up for approximately three miles at this time.

In addition, the northbound exit ramp at mile marker 168 on I-81 is still closed at this time due to a tractor-trailer crash in Botetourt County, according to VDOT.

UPDATE 7:33 a.m.: According to VDOT, only the right lane and right shoulder at mile marker 167.5 on I-81 South are closed at this time following Monday morning’s vehicle crash, but the delays are now up to four miles in Botetourt County.

UPDATE 7:14 a.m.: Just half a mile away from the vehicle crash closing all southbound lanes on I-81 in Botetourt County, a tractor trailer crash has closed off a northbound exit on I-81.

VDOT says the exit ramp at mile marker 168 on I-81 North in Botetourt County is closed Monday morning.

Meanwhile, all southbound lanes at mile marker 167.5 on I-81 are still closed at this time due to the Botetourt County vehicle crash, which has led to two miles of delays, according to VDOT.

Monday morning motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid this traffic.

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Monday morning motorists in Botetourt County are backed up for miles due to a crash blocking lanes on I-81 South, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says.

According to VDOT, all southbound lanes are closed at mile marker 167.5 on I-81 due to the Botetourt County vehicle crash.

Traffic in Botetourt County is currently backed up for two miles due to the crash, VDOT says.
