UPDATE: One person suffers life-threatening injuries in Roanoke fire

UPDATE: 8 p.m.: Roanoke Fire-EMS says one person has suffered life-threatening injuries in a fire in northwest Roanoke Tuesday evening.

According to officials, the fire has been marked as being under control, but not before causing challenges for firefighters trying to completely extinguish the blaze, which extended to the roof of the home in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue NW.

Crews reportedly had to cut a hole through the roof of the home to extinguish the fire.


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke Fire-EMS is actively battling a house fire in northwest Roanoke Tuesday evening.

According to the department, the call came in at 6:13 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 for a fire in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue NW.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a residential structure.

Firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.
