UPDATE 7:30 p.m.: In a previous release, Roanoke County officials said the fire was listed at seven acres. They now say the total acreage burned has been updated to 1.76 acres.



UPDATE 6:31 p.m.: Fire officials say the fire is now contained and crews are clearing the scene. Some crews will stay on scene through the evening hours for structure protection and fire line monitoring due to the high winds.



ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – According to Roanoke County fire officials, crews are battling a seven-acre brush fire in the Catawba district.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue along with the Virginia Department of Forestry are on scene. The fire was reported by a homeowner at approximately 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 in the 3100 hundred block of Timberview Road.

At this time, crews say the fire is about 75% contained and no structures are threatened. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
