UPDATE: Traffic now moving slowly after crash on I-81 North in Roanoke County causes backup of several miles

UPDATE: As of 6:23 p.m., traffic appears to be moving slowly after being at a standstill on I-81 North in Roanoke County Friday.

UPDATE: Shortly before 6 p.m., VDOT reported continued delays on I-81 North at mile marker 143, but the lanes have been reopened after a tractor-trailer crash. Traffic backup is estimated now to be approximately five miles.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Motorists can expect delays on I-81 North due to a tractor trailer crash at mile marker 143 — the Roanoke exit to I-581.

The northbound left shoulder and left lane are closed. Traffic is estimated to be backed up for seven miles.
