ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Nearly 50 homes will now enjoy faster internet services as part of the Cox Communications broadband expansion program in Roanoke County.

The expansion of internet services on Bent Mountain is just the beginning of the expansion project. Cox plans to provide high-speed internet services to 109 residences on Bent Mountain and more than 700 rural residences overall in the next several months.

“We’re thrilled to have invested in broadband access to ensure that residents throughout Roanoke
County can unlock the possibilities that high-speed broadband has to offer,” said David Radford,
Roanoke County Board of Supervisors, Windsor Hills district. “The partnership with Cox is a great
example of the public and private sectors joining forces to remove adoption barriers and empower
communities to participate fully in today’s digital economy.

In the next three years, Cox plans to invest more than $45 million to deliver multi-Gigabit symmetrical speeds to residents and businesses later this year.

“As future technologies emerge that benefit the consumer experience, our customers can depend on us
for the required increased bandwidth and network reliability to power their increasingly digital lives,”
said Jeff Merritt, Roanoke market vice president for Cox in Virginia. “Our customers have counted on our speeds and reliable service for more than 45 years, and we remain committed to being the internet
provider customers can count on to have the speed they need now and in the future.”
