UPDATE: One injured after three-vehicle crash on Route 220 in Roanoke County

UPDATE 1:22 p.m.: Fire officials say one person was brought to the hospital after being injured in a multi-vehicle crash that brought traffic to a temporary halt along Route 220 in Roanoke County Thursday morning.

According to the Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department, units from Clearbrook, Cave Spring, and Mount Pleasant were dispatched to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Franklin Road (Route 220) and Webb Road at approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 3.

The department says one vehicle was upside down and one person was trapped inside.

After first responders quickly worked to remove the person trapped in the vehicle, they brought a patient to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.


UPDATE 9:43 a.m.: Roanoke County Fire and Rescue says all lanes have been reopened on Route 220 following Thursday morning’s collision near Webb Road.


ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke County motorists may need to seek an alternate route Thursday morning because of a collision along Route 220.

According to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department, Route 220 is currently closed in both directions near Webb Road.

There is no word on the extent of the delays resulting from the collision at this time, but the VDOT online traffic map shows significantly slowed traffic along Route 220 between the intersection with Naff Road and the intersection with Shadow Hollow Lane.

First responders ask motorists to avoid the area.
