ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Child Health Investment Partnership (CHIP) of Roanoke held a Wellness Rodeo on Tuesday to make sure kids are happy and healthy as they prepare to return to school.
According to Chief Operating Officer Autumn Lavering, the rodeo was a one stop shop for health resources and back-to-school de-stressing.
Lavering says there were about 10 vendors giving out free haircut vouchers, backpacks filled with school supplies, physical sign-ups, and even stress-relieving acupuncture on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
“We know school supplies are really expensive, and with prices going up, your budget doesn’t necessarily go up, so we’re here to help families so every family has that backpack full of binders, papers, crayons, anything that might be needed to help that child have a strong start to school,” said Lavering.
The CHIP Wellness Rodeo takes place the second Tuesday of every month.
