VINTON, Va. (WFXR) — Looking for a way to beat the heat with your furry friend? You’re in luck because the LancerLot Sports Complex is bringing the coolest canine event of the year back to Vinton this weekend!

From 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, the LancerLot Sports Complex’s ice rink will be transformed into a dog park while the outdoor pool will be reserved for community members and your puppy pals as part of “Macado’s Dog Days of Summer 2.”

This fun-filled event — which is sponsored by Macado’s, the Town of Vinton, and the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce — is free and open to the public, especially if you have a dog or are thinking about adopting a dog.

If you haven’t met your fur-ever friend yet, you’re in luck because the sports complex will also be hosting a dog adopt-a-thon featuring plenty of pooches from local animal shelters — such as Angels of Assisi — who are looking for loving families.

In addition, more than 20 animal vendors will be on-site at Saturday’s event to provide free services, door prizes, and more.
