ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — April is ‘National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month’ and Children’s Trust is inviting members of the community to help plant a garden of pinwheels at Virginia Western Community College on March 31st.
At 9 a.m. on Friday, volunteers and staff will meet at the Community Arboretum to plant over 3,000 pinwheels in the garden. The pinwheels symbolize the whimsical, fun energy that all children deserve to have. By planting pinwheels in public spaces, Children’s Trust hopes to bring attention to this important issue. The campaign empowers individuals to act and create safer spaces for children.
Children’s Trust provides many programs that support victims of child abuse and neglect. The organization aids children and families through prevention services, public education outreach, and impactful advocacy.
