ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Need a new lunch or dinner spot? Chicken Salad Chick will be opening its doors to the public in Roanoke County this week!
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, the restaurant chain’s newest location will celebrate its grand opening week. Between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., the first 100 guests will get free chicken salad for a year.
Fans of the restaurant can now order at its new location at the Tanglewood Mall at 4340 Electric Road.
The owners of the Roanoke area restaurant opened Virginia’s first Chicken Salad Chick restaurant in Christiansburg in April.

However, the opening of Chicken Salad Chick is just the beginning of Tanglewood Mall’s transformation.
According to officials, Aspen Dental is projected to open by November.
Meanwhile, construction is expected to be completed on the outparcel buildings along Electric Road — which will house Panda Express, Jersey Mike’s, Aspen Dental, Blaze Pizza, and Chipotle — by the start of 2022. These restaurants will follow shortly in January and February.
There are also some other major restaurant chains coming to the area, such as Chili’s and Popeye’s. Roanoke County says crews will probably start construction in spring 2022 and hopefully open by next fall.
“It’s a significant transformation for the 419 corridor,” said Jill Loope, Roanoke County’s director of Economic Development. “It brings about $300 million of new ad investment to the community by the end of this year, and an expected $40 million worth of investment next year.”
Representatives of Roanoke County say they are excited that this business venture will bring an anticipated $600,000 in tax revenue to the community, as well as 170 jobs.
In addition, WFXR News has learned there are new projects being discussed for Roanoke County, like additional retail stores in the area, as well as multi-family housing.
