ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — One of the wrestling stars set to appear this Sunday at the Berglund Center has had to cancel her appearance.

The WWE says former Smackdown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair suffered an injury this past weekend that will keep her out of the ring indefinitely. Published reports say Flair will use the time to get married.

However, the show will still go on. Newly returned wrestler Cody Rhodes has been added to the card against Seth Rollins. The main event sees Roman Reigns defend his Universal Championship against Drew McIntire.

Former Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is in a three-way match with Becky Lynch, and Liv Morgan to decide who is the No. 1 contender to Charlotte Flair’s title.

Ripley says fans will find attending a live event is much more exciting than watching it on television.

“You get to connect with the WWE Superstars on such a different level and we also get to connect with you as well. You’ll be on the edge of your seat the entire time and I’m going to be there,” said Ripley.

Kofi Kingston is set to be on the card. He says he is looking forward to making a return trip to Roanoke.

Kingston described the fans in the Star City as, “Rabid in the best way possible. In Virginia, I always say you guys are really underrated. A lot of people don’t give Virginia a lot of credit when it come to wrestling fandom. But I do because I’ve been there. I know. So we look forward to coming to Roanoke and we look forward to put on a great show like we do every time and just feeling that positive energy that you guys put out.”
