ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Local Colors and Taubman Museum of Art have announced they have come together to throw a Lunar New Year’s celebration on Saturday, February 4th.

This year celebrates the ‘year of the rabbit’ and WFXR’s Hazelmarie Anderson got a sneak peek at the festivities which feature arts and crafts, performances, and cultural traditions.

Hazelmarie was joined by Deputy Director of Community Engagement at the Taubman Museum of Art, Erin Shapiro to talk about the hands-on experience kids and adults of all ages can have.

The celebration is a joint effort from the museum of art and Local Colors. Hazelmarie Anderson also talked to the Executive Director of Local Colors, Lisa Spencer about why it is so important to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The Lunar New Year celebration is free and will be happening from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Taubman Museum of Art.
