ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — People 21 and over will soon be able to possess an ounce of marijuana — as well as grow up to four cannabis plants — starting July 1, but there is a caveat that you will have to wait until 2024 before you can pick it up at a dispensary. This is part of the marijuana legalization across Virginia.

It comes after hemp and CBD were legalized back in 2015. This has some CBD stores wondering how the decriminalization of marijuana is going to impact their business.

Ryan Schirmer, owner of Your CBD Store, says sales are finally recovering from the pandemic.

Schirmer told WFXR News that the store has seen a 250 percent increase in sales. He went on to say that their main demographic are customers looking for help with sleep, pain, and stress relief.

“It’s kind of hard to see the split, you know some people may try marijuana and go back to CBD. Some people might stick to CBD and then want to go to marijuana. So it’s tough to say. We’re just going to have to cross that bridge when we get there,” said Schirmer.

Schirmer says in the future Your CBD Store may branch out to marijuana products, but for now, they’re happy with how CDB sales are going.
