ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center is nearing completion on renovations to the clinic set to open in less than a month. The facility will have 14 pediatric specialties and 120 exam rooms.
Dr. Donald Kees, interim chair of pediatrics for Carilion, spoke about the importance of the new location for patients.
“We’ll really provide a much more cohesive environment for patient care, ’cause a lot of patients that come there may have multiple specialists they need to see,” said Kees.
The economic development director of Roanoke County, Jill Loope, also expressed her excitement for the clinic opening.
“We’re super excited to finally see this coming to fruition after a couple of years of work. Carilion is certainly a significant contributor to the community and we’re grateful for their many contributions,” Loope said.
The building is designed to make it easier for patients and their families to access expert care. Dr. Kees also mentioned that different specialties will be color-coded to help easily identify the unit.
The general pediatric department will be up and running as early as next week, though the clinic will not officially open until Oct. 4.
