ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Several bus drivers who take Roanoke City Students to school did not report back to work on Friday after they were not paid on time. The drivers picked up the kids in the morning but didn’t return to bring them home.
The drivers work for Durham School Services, which has contracts with the City of Roanoke.
Edward Flavin a spokesperson for Durham acknowledged that there were issues with the drivers checks. He says it was a mistake, adding that the company is not having financial issues. Flavin promised that the drivers would be paid as soon as possible.
However, one driver who reached out to WFXR News says this has been an ongoing issue with Durham.
A spokeswoman for Roanoke City Schools says they want to make sure the drivers are paid, but there were no issues in getting the students home on Friday Afternoon.
