Boy found shot in northwest Roanoke early Thursday morning, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating after a boy was found shot in northwest Roanoke early Thursday morning.

The Roanoke Police Department says word came in shortly before 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 27 about a person with a gunshot wound in the 4800 block of Rutgers Street NW.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a boy with what appeared to be a serious gunshot wound. He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by first responders.

Police say they did not find any suspects at the scene. In addition, no arrests have been made in connection with this ongoing investigation, according to the department.
