UPDATE 8 p.m.: First responders from across Botetourt County were dispatched to a fire involving a mobile home late Thursday afternoon that caused some serious property damage.

According to the Botetourt County Department of Fire and EMS, units responded to a structure fire shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5.

When personnel arrived on scene, they found heavy fire throughout the dwelling — which spread to multiple detached exposures on the rear — but they quickly worked to establish a water supply shuttle and extinguish the remaining hot spots.

Despite what the department called “significant property loss,” there are no reports of firefighter or civilian injuries.

First responders from the Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department, Eagle Rock Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department, Read Mountain Fire and Rescue Department, and the Troutville Volunteer Fire Department helped with the call.
