ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Almost a month after a body was found near Niagara Dam in Roanoke County, authorities identified the body as that of a missing Roanoke man.

According to the Roanoke County Police Department, the body was first discovered in the water near Niagara Dam — which is southeast of Vinton near Shelbourne Avenue — at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 26.

The department announced on Wednesday, Feb. 24 that the Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body as Dolph Edward Dellinger, a man missing out of Roanoke City.

Police say they have exhausted all attempts to locate and notify a next of kin from outside the state.

The Roanoke City Police Department will now handle any investigation into the nature of how Dellinger entered the river, according to officials.
