ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — For the first time since 2019, the Bank of Botetourt Big Lick Oktoberfest celebration is returning to the Star City in October.
If you happen to be in downtown Roanoke on Oct. 9, organizers say you can expect traditional German-style food, music, and beer alongside dozens of local vendors, as well as new activities with their event partner, Virginia Amateur Sports.
However, there will reportedly be some big changes for 2021, namely a new venue and a new price tag for patrons.
“We liked the idea of a massive venue allowing patrons to spread out as needed, so we’re headed to Elmwood Park!” said JD Sutphin, owner and creative director of Big Lick Entertainment. “Plus, as we hope to bring the most economic impact into downtown as possible and because of our great sponsors, we are able to offer free general admission to the event for all patrons.”
The Big Lick Oktoberfest — which will be an event for all ages with free general admission — is set to take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Elmwood Park.
“We are excited to partner with Big Lick Entertainment to offer Oktoberfest to our lineup of new events,” said Dan Foutz, president of Virginia Amateur Sports. “The day will be filled with everything German with music, food, beers, games, and German themed competitions. This family fun festival will offer something for everyone, and I can’t wait for the Chicken Dance.”
