ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — More than two weeks after an SUV collided with a tree in Roanoke County, authorities identified the teenager who died in the crash.

According to the Roanoke County Police Department, a 2002 Toyota Highlander SUV was heading east on McVitty Road when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree shortly after 11 p.m. on Oct. 24.

The department says the driver — now identified as 18-year-old Gavin William Dent of Roanoke — was wearing a seatbelt, but died at the scene of the wreck.

Police say weather, drugs, and alcohol were not factors in this fatal single-vehicle crash.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 10, authorities say this crash is still under investigation.
