ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Calling all dog lovers! Whether you’re looking for a new furry friend or just enjoy playing with pooches, Angels of Assisi and the Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP) have the perfect event for you on Tuesday!

According to Angels of Assisi, the first-ever “Romping with the Rescues” event will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the RCACP, which is located at 1510 Baldwin Avenue NE in Roanoke. There will be adoptable dogs from both shelters participating in the playgroups in the play lot.

The shelter says this is a family-friendly event that allows dogs to spend some time out of their kennels and have fun socializing.

“The goal of this event is to share some of the incredible dogs in the community that are in need of homes,” Angels of Assisi said in a statement about the event. “As both shelters are almost at capacity, the hope is to highlight how incredible these rescue dogs truly are and shed light on the need to adopt and advocate for these animals.”

Even if you have no plans to adopt a new pet at this time, community members are still invited to come watch the pooches play. Then, if you happen to see one you like, staff members can bring that dog out to meet you.
