ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — In 1999, Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in order to honor and recognize all United States service members.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band‘s jazz ensemble, ‘Rhythm in Blue‘ — which is based in eastern Virginia — joined WFXR News on “Good Day Virginia” to discuss and demonstrate the importance of music in supporting the military.

The ensemble is also holding a free concert at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 16 at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke County.

‘Rhythm in Blue’ aims to honor both active and veteran members of the American military for their sacrifices, as well as share the message of excellence, courage, and commitment displayed by the brave men and women serving worldwide with the the U.S. Air Force.
