Roanoke shooting victim dies at hospital

Authorities are trying to track down the gunman who shot and killed a man in Southwest Roanoke.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Patterson Avenue Southwest for a reported shooting around 6:15 a.m. Thursday; officers said they found a man in a front yard who was shot in the lower body.

The victim died at the hospital shortly before 7 a.m.

Roanoke Police identified the shooting victim as Daniel Franklin Lipak, 56, Roanoke.

According to investigators, witnesses said they saw two men running for the scene of the shooting.

No one has been arrested in connection to the homicide.
