Roanoke Sheriff’s Office is warning people about an IRS scam.  The sheriff’s office has received several calls from citizens.  The citizens have been receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be from the IRS.  The complaints include messages and conversations threatening that unless a payment is made, a deputy from within the Roanoke Sheriff’s Office, will arrest that person.  This is not the case and it’s completely false information.

If you receive a phone call, you’re urged to hang up the phone immediately.  The calls have been coming through phone numbers with the (204) area code.  There are different subsequent numbers.  If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact your local law enforcement agency.

The IRS will never call you  and request payment.
