The Roanoke Police Department is asking the people who ditched their vehicles during flooding Thursday afternoon to get their vehicles and move them.

After the flood water recedes and the area is safe, police encourage vehicle owners to get their vehicles out of the way for Friday morning traffic or they may be towed.

Police released the following statement:

As the high waters are still with us in many parts of the City, we caution the community to use extra care if they must travel. Do not drive through high water. Turn around, don’t drown.
