A full Grandin Theater looked on Wednesday as local drag performers shared stories and live performances. Organizers say proceeds raised will go to the Roanoke Diversity Center, which provides services to the LGBTQ community.
The event included a few special guests, including Vice Mayor Joe Cobb, whose remarks were given a standing ovation.
One performer named “Vince” says the evening is all about communication and being inclusive.
“It’s a great thing to hear people’s stories because for so long we only heard a couple of stories, and now we’re hearing so many more,” Vince said.
