Roanoke City’s Gainsboro Library to close for renovation

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 15, work is expected to begin on renovations to the Gainsboro Branch Library.

This comes a decade after Roanoke completed renovations of the library, the city will be refreshing the amenities available at the library.

On Sept. 15, curbside service and the book drop will close at the Gainsboro Library so work can begin.

Improvements coming to the Gainsboro Library include:

  • New paint, carpet, blinds and shelves throughout the branch;
  • New books and materials;
  • A redesigned children and teen areas with new furniture and fun features;
  • A refreshed community room and Virginia Y Lee Room with new tables and chairs;
  • New technology; and
  • Patio furniture.

All other branches of the Roanoke Library will be open for curbside services including material hold pickups, copying and faxing and Feed and Read and kit-based programs between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Renovations are expected to be completed by early 2021.
