UPDATE: Roads closed across several counties due to flooding, adverse weather conditions

UPDATE: 12:15 p.m.: Due to flooded roads, downed trees, mudslides, and other weather-related issues, VDOT closed roads in the following counties.

Alleghany County:

  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 600 and Rumsey Road at Midland Trail and U.S. 60 due to flooding.

Amherst County:

  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 629 from Little Piney Road and Dead End to Dillard Hill Road and Route 723 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 621 at Indian Creek Road from Dead End to Gidsville Road and Route 625 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 665 from Lowesville Road and Route 778 to Maple Run Road and Route 735 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 666 from Lowesville Road and Route 778 to Route 630 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 694 from Warrick Barn Road and Route 694 to Warrick Barn Road and Route 621 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are impassable on Route 635 from Minors Branch Road and Route 647 to Ashby Woods Road, Buffalo Springs Turnpike, and Toure 643 because of the storm.

Bedford County:

  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes on Route 691 on Thaxton Mountain Road are closed from Rocky Ford Road and Route 684 to Union Church Road and Route 755 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes on Route 619 are closed from Quarles Road and Route 691 to Nester Road and Route 690 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Bells Mill Road from East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike and U.S. 460 East to Goode Road and Route 668 due to flooding.

Campbell County:

  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 660 from Grist Mill Road and Route 746 to Eastbrook Road, Wood Lane, and Route 665 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 622 and Lynbrook Road from Clarks Road and Route 690 to Lawyers Road, Overton Drive, Winebarger Circle, and Route 683 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 626 from Leesville Road to Tardy Mountain Road and Route 711 due to flooding.
  • Lynbrook Road near Clark’s Road is closed to stop storm damage.

Carroll County:

  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes on Route 640 (Keno Road) at Snake Creek Road and Route 670 are closed for a downed tree.
  • State Route 100 North on Sylvatus Highway is closed at Floyd Pike, Hardscuffle Road, U.S. 221 and Route 669 for a tree down.
  • U.S. 58 East on Carrollton Pike is closed from the Galax border to the Floyd and Carroll County lines for a tree down.

Danville:

  • Eastbound lanes are closed on Riverside Drive between Beech Avenue and James Road due to downed trees, according to the Danville Police Department. Motorists are encouraged to use Westover Drive or the bypass as a detour.

Floyd County:

  • Both northbound and southbound lanes on Route 612 at Stonewall Road from Coles Knob Road and Route 673 in Floyd County to Righ Rock Hill Road and Route 612 in Montgomery County are closed for a downed tree.

Franklin County:

  • U.S. 220 South (Virgil H. Goode Highway) is closed at Clark Road and Route 755 for a downed tree.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 672 from Burnt Chimney Road and Route 670 to Dead End due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 950 at Dovetail Road from Merriman Way Road and Route 666 to Booker T. Washington Highway, Moneta Road, and State Route 122 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 781 from Franklin Street, Sawmill Road, State Route 40, and Route 752 to Pernello Road and Route 784 due to a tree down.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 756 from Franklin Street, State Route 40, and Ruritan Road to Hunt Valley Road and Route 1028 due to a tree down.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 759 and Rufus Road from Fork Mountain Road and Route 608 to Crooked Oak Road and Route 718 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 717 and Sutton Hollow Road from Snow Creek Road and Route 890 to Colonel Lee Road and Route 933 due to flooding.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 674 and Doe Run Road at Ashpone Tavern Road and Route 707 due to a tree down.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 707 and Asphone Tavern Road at Doe Run Road and Route 674 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 659 at Bar Ridge Road from Ramsey Memorial Road and Route 626 to Kay Fork Road and Route 647 due to a tree down.

Giles County:

  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 602 at Clover Hollow Road, Laurel Springs Road, Rocky Gap Trail, and Route 601 due to a tree down.

Grayson County:

  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are impassable on Route 654 and Hines Branch Road at Carsonville Road and Route 660 because of the storm.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on State Route 94 and Scenic Road at Lime Kiln Road and Route 638 due to a tree down.

Henry County:

  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 663 near Winter Hawk Road and Route 1276 due to weather.

Lynchburg:

  • U.S. 460 East is closed at the 460 Bye Highway at Candlers Mountain Road while U.S. 460 West at the 460 Bye Highway is closed at the ramp intersection to University Boulevard for trees down.
  • The 1700 block of Wards Ferry Road is closed due to debris on the road, according to Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services.

Nelson County:

  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on State Route 6 at Route 810 due to a mudslide.
  • Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 623 and Stagebridge Road at Walnut Grove Lane and Route 700.

Pittsylvania County:

  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 778 and Jasmine Road from Smith Mountain Road and Route 626 to Yorkshire Drive and Route 777 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 777 and Yorkshire Drive from Jasmine Road and Route 778 to Ford Road and Route 908 due to flooding.
  • Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Route 728 and Hillside Road from Countryside Drive and Route 730 to Kentuck Road and Route 729 due to flooding.

Pulaski County:

  • Main Street is closed in Pulaski due to flooding. A WFXR reporter is on the way to the scene.

Roanoke City (according to Roanoke City Police Department):

  • Wise Avenue Bridge (both the Roanoke and Vinton sides)
  • Wonju Street at Franklin Road SW
  • Shaffer’s Crossing
  • Chesterton Street at Deyerle Road SW
  • King Street NE from Belle Avenue to Berkley Road NE
  • 2700 block of Garden City Boulevard SE
  • 900-1000 block of Campbell Avenue SW
  • Welcome Valley Road at Yellow Mountain Road SE

Roanoke County:

  • Walnut Avenue is closed at 4th Street — which is also closed — near Glade Creek Greenway in Vinton due to flooding, according to the Vinton Police Department.

Salem:

  • Low Water Bridge at Mill Lane and parts of West Riverside and McVitty are closed, according to Main Street Salem.
