A Radford Police Officer was honored in helping a save a man’s life back in March 2019.

On March 20, Officer Travis Coffey, along with other first responders, was called to the scene of a medical emergency. Doug Leonard suffered a massive heart attack in his car.

Officer Coffey began CPR and was able to get Leonard to breathe again. Leonard says he died multiple times that evening.

Leonard was later flown to the hospital. Doctors told him — if it wasn’t for Officer Coffey’s quick action — he would have most likely died or have suffered severe brain damage.
