Police: Three Lynchburg men facing numerous charges after multiple counts of larceny

The Lynchburg Police Department has been investigating a number of vehicle larcenies, two burglaries, and two stolen vehicles in the University of Lynchburg area as well as the Memorial and Oakley Avenue corridor. 

According to police, the suspects connected to these crimes were possibly using a stolen car. 

On February 14, Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to initiate a vehicle stop on Campbell Avenue with the assistance of Patrol, said police. 

The operator of the vehicle did not comply and led officers and detectives on a car chase from I-460 into Campbell County.

Police said they eventually stopped the suspect vehicle and arrested three suspects. Multiple stolen items were recovered. 

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, the following three suspects have been arrested as part of this investigation: 

19-year-old, Shawn M. Rose and 21-year-old, Shyheim M. Hamlett of Lynchburg were each charged with the following:

  • Grand Larceny – Vehicle (2 cts)
  • Grand Larceny (3 cts)
  • Burglary (2 cts)
  • Tampering with a Vehicle (2 cts)
  • Petit Larceny (2 cts) 

Rose was also charged with felony eluding police as he was the operator of the stolen vehicle.

19-year-old, Matthew L. Creasy of Lynchburg was charged with:

  • Burglary (2 cts)
  • Grand Larceny (1 ct)
  • and Petit Larceny (1 ct)

All of these suspects are being held without bond at the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center. Further charges are pending.
