LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Since 2015, police have responded to more than 200 calls in the block where a man was arrested after an overnight standoff with Lynchburg Police last week.
The information was confirmed by Lynchburg Police today.
Officers responded to 85 Jackson St. just before 11 p.m. Thursday night after a reported assault.
When they arrived, officers attempted to speak with the suspect. Shawn Calloway, 50, barricaded himself in the home.
Members of the Lynchburg Police Department’s Tactical Unit and Crisis Negotiations Team responded to help take Calloway into custody.
After multiple attempts to speak with him, chemical agents were used.
Tactical Unit officers eventually took Calloway into custody on the following charges:
- Domestic assault and battery;
- Strangulation; and
- Abduction.
No one was hurt in the standoff.
