Police: Man wanted for stealing lottery tickets from convenient store

Lynchburg police are investigating after a suspect broke into a convenient store Thursday morning.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, officers were dispatched to Sunrise Food Mart at 1201 Campbell Ave. for a reported burglary. 

When officers arrived, the victim said when they arrived to work they saw that the front glass to the business was shattered.

Officers said when they looked at the surveillance system they saw a man enter the store by using a brick to break the glass front door at around 5:30 a.m. 

They said while inside, the male stole several hundred dollars’ worths of Virginia Lottery tickets before fleeing on foot toward Garfield Ave. 

The suspect is described as between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, slender build and wearing a dark colored hoodie, dark pants, dark colored shoes with white soles and gloves.

This investigation is ongoing.
