Police identify teenage girl killed in Galax shooting

GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — Almost a week after the shooting that left a young woman dead in Galax, authorities reveal the victim’s identity.

According to Galax Police Chief DeWitt Cooper, 19-year-old Kayla Crigger was found dead on Monday, Dec. 23 after a reported shooting at a house on Partridge Street.

It is unclear whether Crigger was a resident of the house where the shooting took place, but police reported finding three weapons at the house.

On Tuesday, Dec. 24, Cooper said in a text message to a WFXR reporter that “We have confirmed her name however we will not release it pending the final determination by M.E.”
