Police: Danville woman charged with felony homicide, elder neglect in the death of her grandmother

Danville police have charged a woman for an August 2018 elder neglect case. 

According to officials, on August 8, 2018, at approximately 9:51 pm, Danville Police and the Danville Life Saving Crew responded to a residence in the 100 block of Park Ave. for a report of a female in cardiac arrest.

When officials arrived at the scene, 71-year-old Dorthy Jean George was pronounced dead. 

Police say George suffered from various health issues. 

Due to the conditions in the home and circumstances surrounding the initial call for EMS, detectives were notified and responded to investigate further.

According to officials, the case was presented to a grand jury this week. 

33-year -old Brenda Ann Gomez-Lazarski , the caretaker and granddaughter of George was indicted for abuse of incapacitated adult resulting in a death and felony homicide.

Police say Lazarski was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond. 

She is facing felony homicide and abuse and neglect of incapacitated adult charges.
