The City of Galax will no longer be accepting plastics at the Galax Recycling Center.

According to officials, recycled plastic production is at an all-time low, leaving the Recycling Center unable to sell collected materials for a profit.

Galax will post new signs advising what materials are acceptable for recycling at the center.

Cardboard and paper products, such as newspapers, magazines and office paper will be accepted. Tin and aluminum recycling containers will also be added to the list of accepted materials.
